How To Germinate Marijuana Seeds
The germination of marijuana seeds is a quick & simple process, however a bit of patience is usually required - just like with all marijuana growing. Once the seeds have been germinated, you will be just days away from seeing a small sprout emerging from the soil.
In this article, i will be revealing a few different methods i have used to germinate marijuana seeds.
Before we get started, it's very important that we first take some precautions: Always make sure your work space is clean. Be sure to use lots of antibacterial soap on your equipment, and also on yourself!
One thing to keep in mind, is that marijuana seeds require 3 very important things: An abundance of water, absolute darkness, and a good temperature. The best type of water to use is bottled mineral water, or rain water. If you want to be extra sure, make sure you have a neutral PH (7.0 ± 0.2). Also, a temperature of around [65 to 80 °F | 18.5 to 26.5 °C]. The best way to get both darkness and a good temperature, is by placing your seeds into a boiler cupboard.
Another pointer is that after around 24 - 72 hours, using any method, your marijuana seeds will most likely show small white tails protruding from them. But also, bear in mind that some seeds can take up to one week to germinate!
Soaking Method
The soaking method involves dropping your marijuana seeds into a small volume of water, and leaving it for a few days. It's a very simple process with a high success rate, and the steps to this germination method are incredibly simple.Firstly, just get a small liquid holder such as a shot glass, or any other small glass. Fill your glass 3/4 full with water (remember to use mineral water, or rain water for best results), drop your seed in, and then place it in a warm and dark place (Water heater cupboard is best for this (with a temperature of 65 to 80 °F | 18.5 to 26.5 °C). Initially, the seed will most likely float, but after a few hours (12 - 24) it will sink to the bottom of the glass - if this happens, don't be scared, it's meant to happen, it's just a signal that the seed has absorbed some water.
After 24 hours of soaking, if the seed still hasn't sunk, stir the water around with a clean finger, and leave for a few more days.
Paper Towel Method
The paper towel method is again very simple, and quick to perform. It has about the same efficiency and success rate as the soaking method. to start off, get a paper towel (toilet paper, tissue paper, kitchen paper), and dampen it with water with water (Again, remember to use mineral water for best results) until it is fairly wet, but not soaking. Now get your seed, and place it onto a dish. Once the paper towel is wet, simply add your marijuana seed to it, and fold the sheet of toilet paper over.
At this point, the seed should be covered with toilet paper. Add some cling film or tin foil over the plate (so no moisture escapes), and then place it in a dark, and warm (65 to 80 °F | 18.5 to 26.5 °C) place. Again, remember the best place for this is a boiler cupboard!
After around 24 - 72 hours of any germination method, you should see a white tail pop out of the seed. When you see this tail, you should carefully put the seed in the soil with the tail pointing downwards (towards the ground), and cover over the seed with some soil (about 1 cm of soil). Leave the pots with your seeds in them somewhere warm, with some light, such as a radiator. And after about 24 hours, you should see a nice green stem emerge from the soil.
